The article includes reasons from both experts and professors on why students may be cheating as often as they are now. Perez-Pena also includes quotes from some of the professors at some of the schools. One quote that stood out to me was, " I don't think there's any question that students have become more competitive, under more pressure, and , as a result, tend to excuse more from themselves and other students." This shows one main reason as to why most students in the nations schools cheat.
This particular article changed my perspective of cheating. Before, I didn't think that cheating was such a big deal though after reading this article it made me think that cheating really is a big problem and needs to change. I do think that this is an important subject because cheating is not a good thing and it really does need to stop. To fix this problem, I believe students should boost their self esteem and believe they can succeed in anything so they relieve the pressure off of themselves and then as a result will not cheat.
This article makes me think that some students cheat because they think they are academically incapable of passing a subject so they cheat off of other students. The only thing is that instead of cheating they could have just asked their teacher for extra help. I guess students would rather get their work done fast and easy without further help to pass their subject. I hope that these students soon do learn that they could always just go up to a teacher and ask for extra help instead of cheating.
