In the article "Marijuana law just creates criminal" by Hakeem Jeffries talks about the how many people in New York were arrested last year for possessing small amounts of marijuana. In which people did not know that the government changed the law concerning marijuana and how much you can possess in the privacy of your pocket in public. The policy that police use called "stop and frisk" is when they stop people, question them, then they are searched or frisked to see if they have the drug on them.
The article is a self-opinion article so most of the quotes are from Jeffries himself. The quote from him that stood out the most to me was "Given the change of law in 1977, had the marijuana remained in the person's pocket, possession would not have been a crime at all." This shows that the government is being unfair in this rule because the people are only doing what the police told them to do but if they hadn't showed them what was in their pocket then they would have never known that they had marijuana.
I think that having or smoking marijuana is wrong. Though to have the police investigate you for something they probably wouldn't have known you had, without knowing that they do this, is just as wrong as having the marijuana. They should have made the law known because it was not right to not inform the people that this law was implemented on them.
This article makes me think that the government can just be really sneaky sometimes. Marijuana is wrong and everything but not telling your people that you implemented a new law is wrong too. Though I also understand there reasons for not telling the public about this law due to they would try and hide the marijuana in a better place whenever they are out in the public. Though i dont understand why people just cant be honest about things. It's a shame really. I really hope that once in a blue moon we can have some honest people with honest answers.

More Regulations Against Guns
In the article "Do we have the courage to stop this?" by Nichcolas D. Kristof he speaks of the school shooting in Connecticut and brings up the point " Why cant we regulate guns as seriously as we do cars?" as stated by Kristof. The article brings up the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and how they have so many rules and regulations against ladders. Though they don't really pay attention to the limitation of rules and regulations on firearms. Ladders do kill about 300 Americans a year. Though guns can kill up to 30,000 Americans a year.
Kristof includes quotes from facebookers, the president and including from himself. One quote that stood out to me though was from one on of his facebook followers that said "It is more difficult to adopt a pet than it is to buy a gun." This shows that there is some really access to guns out there and that the facebooker was trying to get the point across that its so difficult to do everything else in America except being able to buy a gun.
I think the situation in Connecticut was absolutely horrible and I agree with everyone that is saying that we need to have more regulations on guns. There could be multiple reasons that we do not have rules against guns but all I know is one thing. Guns are killers. I wish the government, president, and everyone else who makes rules in America that guns are killers and that they are so easy to access. Violence with guns need to stop so there needs to be more rules against them to stop all the gun violence from happening.

Ki-Suck Han Killed by a Q Train
In the article "Man pushed to death on subway tracks" by James Barron on NYTimes.com, he tells us of the crime of a New Yorker waiting for his train and how he had been pushed in to the subway tracks by a fellow new yorker. It is said that the victim was identified as Ki-Suck Han and was struck by a southbound Q train in the 49th street station.
The article includes quotes from witnesses, police, and onlookers. One of the quotes that stood out to me from the article was when a witness to the accident said "As`he attempted to climb out of the well, he was struck by the train and got wedged between the platform and the train car." This is basically saying that every witness there just watched him die. Nobody there even moved to try and help him up onto the platform to safety.
I think that this situation is absolutely horrible and that there need to be multiple consequences for the person who did it. I understand that he may be a mental patient but he is also an american just like the rest of and has to suffer the consequences that we all have to suffer. Equal rights includes equal consequences between the rest of us.

Raising Driving Age From 16 Would Save Lives
In the article "Should 16-years-olds drive?-Report says raising age would save lives" by Ted Gregory he reports about Chicago officials trying to change the minimum driving age so teens can drive at an older age. Motor vehicle crashes kill more than 5,000 teenagers every year.
The article includes quotes from both teenagers and officials themselves. One quotes that stood out to me was when the article read "Among New Jersey's 17-year-old drivers, the percentage in fatal crashes dropped 33 percent after the graduated license law was enacted." This shows that if Chicago enacted this law teens would be much safer on the road and there will not be as many crashes as there are now.
I think that passing this law would do everybody on the road some good. Meaning everybody will be much safer on the road since the students will be older, more mature, and their mind will be in a more stable period, there is less risk of an accident. Accidents kill hundreds of people each year so reducing the number of accidents that kill so many Americans each year.
This article makes me think about how many people have gotten into accidents but thankfully survived. I guess it is really among the younger drivers that get into accidents according to this article also because the grown up i know have only gotten into accidents once or maybe twice and the accident did not end up fatal unlike when teenagers drive. Elmo Puppeteer Accused of Underage-Sex
In the article "Meet The Man Who Targeted Elmo Puppeteer", they reveal that Sheldon Stephens, 24, was the accuser of Elmo Puppeteer, Kevin Clash, 52, of being in a underage sexual relationship with him when he was 16. Though after accusing him, he annulled the allegation only a day later. Stephens is a struggling 24-year-old actor/model who was arrested before for robbery of $250,000 worth of jewelry at knife-point of music manager Daniel Pollard that he was interning under.

One quote that stood out to me from Stephens himself that he posted on his facebook page was the last part of his quote that reads "MY FUTURE IS BRIGHT and never will it dim" This quote from him clearly shows that he thinks after pulling this stunt he doesn't think there will consequence for his actions.
I think them having a sexual relationship is their business and that nobody should even be reporting on this. The station and the two them should be able to handle this problem without all the following of paparazzi and having to explain to the media about this. This is their private business and nobody should be involved in it but them and the station to see how to handle this.

I maybe only a teenager but seeing people pull scams like this, makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. it makes me think that people will really do anything for what they want even if it is the craziest idea ever thought up. Reactions to Obama's Election Win
The article titled "Yay! Boo! So? Reactions to Obama win vary" by Peter Mucha gets quotes from various people around the city of their opinion on president Obama winning the election and why they think what they think is so. In the article some people were elated that he won, some were not so thrilled with it, and others were pretty indifferent about the whole thing.
In the article Mucha gets quotes from many people around the city on their opinion of the election out turn. One quote that stood out to me though was when Linda Halpern said "I think we should really need to get into protection mode and try to figure out a lot of what this administration is going to impose on us." This shows that some people including her, do not trust the administration to their job to protect fellow Americans and do their best to keep them safe.
I think that it was the nations best choice to put Obama back in office for four more years. He can finish what he started this way and then things hopefully will end up better than they already are and then people will not feel so uptight about things they do now.

Will They Finally Acknowledge The Climate Changes?
In the article "Will Climate Change Get Some Respect Now" by Nicholas D. Kristof, he states how Hurricane Sandy brought some light to scientists who have overlooked climate change over the years. New Yorks' Governor Andrew Cuomo stated to Obama that it seems "we have a 100 year flood every two years now." The New York Times has reported that indeed, "three of 10 biggest floods in Lower Mathattan since 1990 have occurred in the last three years."
This article includes quotes and facts from experts that study these types of situations such as climate control. One quote from an expert that really stood out to me was when Jake Crouch of The NCDC (National Climatic Data Center) remarked "Of the 10 warmest summers on record for the United States, seven have occurred since 2000." This quote from him shows that climate control was never really looked at though it is now and people are starting to notice this problem now.
I think that climate change has been been pretty neglected over the years and I think its been about time for a long time that people notice the climate change. I think that they overlook it because they are kind of scared of the change and are trying to just say it is an illusion and and its not real. When people tend to be afraid of things they try to ignore it as best they can and that is really the big problem with this whole thing.
This article makes me wonder about the climate and they way people tend to think. What is gonna happen if the climate keeps changing? Will the sun get closer and the Earth get hotter? Why do people have to turn their backs on things that scare them or things that don't interest them? Doesn't that make the problem worse for everybody by not acknowledging it? I could ask people what they think about these questions but then again some people may not be comfortable with answering my questions. Hopefully if I do get to ask people about these problems, I get a straight answer that will enlighten us all on this problem.
